That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Green Circle Salons—an initiative designed to ensure that beauty waste is no longer a burden on our planet. We’re taking bold steps to make our industry more eco-friendly, and we want to share why this matters to us, to you, and to the world.
Why Sustainability Matters
The beauty industry generates an incredible amount of waste. In fact, we dump 877 pounds a minute into landfills. That is nearly half a million pounds in one work day! From hair clippings and foils to used gloves and metal color tubes, much of this waste ends up in landfills, contributing to environmental degradation. By partnering with Green Circle Salons, we’re committed to changing this narrative. Together, we’re keeping waste out of landfills and ensuring it’s either responsibly recycled or repurposed.
Here’s how Green Circle Salons helps:
Hair Clippings: Collected and used in projects like creating hair booms to soak up oil spills. Green Circle also recycles hair to create combs and collection bins for salons.
Foils and Metal Tubes: Recycled into new aluminum products.
Used Hair Color: Even used hair color can be recycled! Green Circle Salons safely collects and processes leftover hair color to keep it out of our water systems. This waste is transformed into clean energy or neutralized to minimize its environmental impact.
Gloves and Other Materials: Diverted from landfills through innovative recycling solutions.
Our Broader Commitment to Sustainability
Beyond our partnership with Green Circle Salons, we’re doing many other things to be environmentally responsible:
Energy-Efficient Lighting: A lot of lighting is necessary in a salon, so we focus on using energy-efficient options to reduce our power consumption.
Salon Scale: We use Salon Scale to weigh every ounce of color to ensure we’re only using the exact amount of color and chemicals needed for each individual client, reducing waste on the front end. This also keeps the price fair to our guests.
Food Waste Recycling: All of our food waste is collected and used to feed chickens owned by our Salon Manager, Cherre.
Electrical Tools: Salon tools consume a lot of electricity, so we make it a habit to unplug them when not in use.
Clean Product Lines: We use product lines that are clean, safe for our skin and hair, and eco-friendly. Many of these products come in post-consumer recycled packaging. Eufora is one of the cleanest beauty product lines in the world, even meeting the high standards required in Japan.
Local Partnerships: We’ve partnered with Lis'n Beauty. Lis'n is a local company made right here in Minnesota, reducing the environmental impact of shipping and supporting our local economy. Lis’n is very involved in maintaining our MN farm land working to utilize the best practices possible in sourcing their ingredients.
Eco-Friendly Shipping Practices: We consolidate orders to minimize shipping frequency, and when we do ship, we use UPS because of their commitment to preserving our planet.
Coffee & Tea Bar: Utilizing only reusable/washable mugs and recyclable coffee pods and single use items.
What This Means for You
Sustainability isn’t just about what happens behind the scenes; it’s a partnership with our clients. To make this program possible, we’ve introduced a small Sustainability Fee. This nominal fee helps cover the costs associated with the proper collection, sorting, and disposal of materials that traditional recycling systems can’t handle. Think of it as a way to invest in a cleaner, greener planet every time you visit us. It is the same concept used when having a disposal fee for your Car’s oil changes.
